I was hoping you could tell me how long it took you to lose your weight, and what you did that helped you be effective doing it. I have a long way to go, and would love to know any tips you have from your journey, whether you are in process or maintaining.

Hi, let me start out by saying everyone is different, and the results will veri, so i started out in April of this year, my start weight was 307, I drink at least eight 8 oz glasses of water a day, up to 14 glasses .. and I eat 1200 calories minimal a day, on Sundays I eat up to 1600 calories and I started working out about a week ago, working out 6 days a week...... I log everything I eat every day.... so during the 3 months I've been doing this , I've lost 35lbs... weighed on Monday and I weighed 272...... my big goal is to lose a total of 150 lbs, so I've still got a long way to go......hope this helps!!!!0

Hi,
I started on January 1, 2012. I just try to have the best day I can everyday. I stopped drinking Diet Pepsi and started drinking water. Made some friends on MFP to keep me honest and only weigh in once a month because my scale is a biotch.0 -
Hello and welcome! I started out April 10th and have managed to lose about 38 pounds - if not for a weeks vacation It would have been more! I LOVE this site and have found much wisdom and guidance here. I have a lot left to lose but I know I can make it because I have read so many inspirational stories here. My best advice is to stay with it. Realize you are going to have bad days and forgive yourself for them. I have decided that this is a life long process for me so I don't feel like I'm dieting-only moving toward a better life. Good Luck on your journey!0

I managed to lose 70lbs in a year. Unfortunately I gained it back the next year...ugh. But I will lose it again. Just from my experience I will say when I was CONSISTENT I would lose each week. It was when I went over calories, or had cheat days, cheat weeks etc that would mess up my progress.
My friend joined a little after me and she managed to lose 100lbs in a year! She was really good at staying under her calories and exercising every day. I think just staying on track and not giving up is the key0
