shift work

Hi, so where I work we have shifts. 6am-2pm 2pm-10pm 10pm-6am, I usually only work afternoon or nightshift, so my question is when I'm on night shift should I start my day (caloriecounting) at midnight or when I get up at 2pm? After my first nightshift I don't eat until dinner around 7:30pm then I'll eat a meal at 3am and have breakfast before going to bed at 6:30am I know it might be weird routine but I like it. I want to lose weight (I'm at 115kg now) but I'm taking it easy.

I log from midnight to midnight that way all my days are 24 hours long and match up with my Fitbit burn.

I work crazy hours, 10pm - 6am 3 nights a week, then a 16 hour shift on Saturday/Sunday and then Monday through Friday I work a different job 9am to 1pm. So I do the same as Elphie754 and do it midnight to midnight. Otherwise it's too confusing.

I worked 10pm to 6am for many years. I'd generally try and go straight to bed when getting home at 6am and would start my day in the afternoon when I woke. Worked best for me. Any time I stayed up after work and didn't try to go to bed until later in the afternoon it made me tired for my shift. That way if I got my sleep in early while the kids were at school or sleeping in for the summer then I could spend more time with the family before work. I wasn't logging back then though, so I see your dilemma. Maybe try logging from the time you get up to the time you go to sleep, so for me back then I would have started the day at around 3-4pm so I would not end my day until around 7am.

I have my 6 meals named for 4 hour time blocks, such as 12 AM to 4 AM, and just log what I eat in the correct time slot.

My food log is set up as
    12:01-08:00
    08:01-12:00
    12:01-03:00
    03:01-06:00
    06:01-08:00
    08:01-10:00
    10:01-12:00
Midnight to midnight but my day is broken down into times instead of breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This lets me focus on what and when i eat verses having to figure out is waking up at 1pm and eating counting as breakfast of lunch. I used to log sleep to sleep but since the food log switches days at midnight i was getting confused when logging late at night.
