My husband and I have been making fruit/veggie shakes. Enough for us each have one at breakfast and lunch. I put in mine banana, 1/2 Apple, 1/2 orange, brocolli, kale, spinach, carrots, a few frozen strawberries and 1/2 cup blueberries. I lost 2.8 pounds the first two days then nothing. About the same for my husband. we r eating a healthy dinner. Not sure what we are doing wrong.

Are you logging your food intake? How many calories are you eating per day? How long have you been doing what you are doing now?

2.8 pounds in a few days is water weight. Expect weekly weight losses of no more than 1% of your current weight. Speaking of water weight; lots of reasons for fluctuations - sore muscles (new exercise?) - time of month - higher sodium day. Weight fluctuates.....this is normal.

Are you adding protein & fat to your meal replacement shakes? You want to meet minimum calorie AND macronutrient goals.

How many grams of each fruit/vegetable are you adding to your shakes? As long as you have a deficit, you can continue the shakes.

Absolutely in agreement that you shouldn't expect daily weight loss.

Looking at your diary, it appears that you started on Friday. That's only 5 days ago.

The fruit/veggie shakes have no magical weight loss properties. They're simply calories. They're NUTRITIOUS calories, but they're not, in and of themselves being made and consumed, going to torch fat.

Track your calories and exercise PATIENCE. 5 days isn't much time for anything to genuinely manifest. This weight loss thing is a long journey that's going to be a roller coaster of "Yay!" and "Eff This!" Be consistent, be patient with an eye toward your destination instead of "what's changed int he last 24 hours" and keep those calories in check. A few months down the line and you'll be glad you did.

And keep drinking those shakes. They sound delicious.

You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong -- track losses by week, not days, and as others have said, you want to have realistic expectations. 1% of total weight (unless you are quite near goal) is reasonable, it will probably be higher the first week or two. Main thing is pick a reasonable calorie goal and then stick to it for a while to see what your weekly results are, on average.

I am a fan of fruit/veg smoothies (had one this morning with butternut squash, green pepper, cashew milk, greek yogurt, protein powder, lots of spinach, and some frozen strawberries), but I am wondering about the calorie count for yours: with all the fruit you mentioned, 197 cals seems quite possibly low. I could be wrong here, but it's worth double checking going forward.

The other thing I see (just for future reference) is that your protein is quite low and with shakes with little protein for breakfast and lunch that's not surprising. Protein can help for satiety and also is good to help preserve muscle when losing. I also suspect that eating more of your food over time (and not drinking two meals a day) might be a better plan for creating a sustainable diet. If the goal is more vegetables, of course there are lots of tasty ways to have them -- salad with protein in it, on the side of whatever you might otherwise have for breakfast or lunch, a vegetable omelet (a favorite breakfast of mine), and on and on. Some nutrients in veg are also better absorbed with fat or cooked, so I like to have at least a little fat in my smoothies and to vary my vegetables between cooked and not (my greens I make sure to eat both ways).

Of course, everyone is different, so if you really love this way of eating ignore me, but I'd still recommend thinking about protein.

It seems you are under the impression that shakes are for losing weight. They aren't. They are nutritious. Also you should be prepared to lose about a pound a week, not a pound a day. And only if you eat at a deficit.
