Social Situation - Need help!

OK so, next weekend I have two possible plans.

1. School reunion
2. A colleague's wedding

If I go to the reunion, it'll cost me a lot of money, and I'll have to be away for the night, but, I will have a lot of fun.

If I go to the wedding, I will be by myself (my partner will be working), and I will be relying on a colleague I don't particularly like to take me there and back. It will be a free night out, and I won't have to stay away from home. If I don't go, I'll be the only one in the office not to be going.

...I wish I had a twin :(

I think I would go to the wedding since you know you will have fun, if you can afford to spend the money.

besides why on earth do you feel obligated to go to a wedding with work ppl? lame on all accounts. weddings are weird any way then ya add strangers and someone you don't really like?

    this is a no brainer

Voting for reunion, too. Fun time is the key. We have enough unpleasantness in our live already so we got to grab these happy moments whenever we can.

then don't go. Why would you do anything that you know you won't enjoy? Like me and spin class... sure it's a workout, but I hate that garbage.. so I don't do it. Same reasoning applies.

I'd go to the reunion to see friends I haven't seen in some time. You see the work folks every day. I'm sure the wedding couple would understand that. Send them a nice card and a gift and then go party your butt off with friends.

Wait, wouldn't you have already RSVP'd for the wedding? I'm confused; a wedding is not something you decide last minute to go to/not go to (not trying to be antagonistic, just legitimately wondering!)

Definitely the reunion over a colleague's wedding. The reunion is also a very acceptable and easy explanation as to why you were the only one not going to the wedding.

I say wedding, I mean reception, and it's not a sit down meal that they need specific numbers for.

Edited because I saw you answered the question. . .

    With that said:

Reunion. Although it will cost you money and you will have to stay over you pointed out that you will have fun. If it were me I would prefer fun over having to endure a car ride to and from some place that I really don't want to be with someone I really don't care for. Chances are good that the majority of your office might not actually be going.
  • I would choose the reunion... Especially if seeing those people is not something you get to do very often!

    Did you RSVP to both saying you'll go?? I'm confused . . . .

Had said yes to the reunion, but didn't say anything about the wedding *reception*. Totally didn't realise they were on the same day. I'm shockingly bad with dates.

Well it sounds like you know what the answer is ;) Reunion it is!

Having seen your photograph, go to the reunion and knock them dead! Much more fun. No brainer....... and how many of these office people do you normally see outside of work anyway?

It depends. Career wise (politically), is going to this wedding a good move?

REUNION!!!!:drinker: At the wedding either you'll be stuck with work colleagues you're not keen on, or stuck with weirdo "distant relatives/neighbours" the couple have invited out of duty.

The reunions come far apart. Your co-workers, you see every day. I would choose the reunion and explain I have another commitment. But that would be for me. Live for yourself, not everyone else.
