What is better? 1/2 hour per day for 5 days or longer times for not as many times a week?

Whichever you'll actually do.
Starting with a half hour every day gets you into the habit of doing regular exercise. You learn to make room in your schedule for it and you learn to enjoy it. When you get more fit, it's easy to add 5 or 10 minutes to your workouts once you are in the habit of doing them. As long as you don't push too hard and if you vary your activities, you shouldn't have to worry about injury. If you are doing the same activity all the time (i.e. running or lifting) then giving your muscles a chance to heal between sessions is a good idea, so every other day might be better for you.
