Running with peroneal tendonitis? Alternatives?

Just diagnosed with peroneal tendonitis. I am doing RICE for a week at least and also having physiotherapy every day with ultrasound, electrical stimulation and deep tissue chilling.
Plus taking anti- inflamatories.

Currently half way through training programme for half marathon - any ideas how long I should rest before running again and what exercise I can do in the mean time to keep fitness up ( did strength training and rowing in the gym today).

Also - will taping my ankle help at all when I run again? I know someone will ask about shoes so . . . I wear good shoes, Salomon Speedcross 3 for trails and Asics Gel Nimbus for road and at least 90% of all my running is on trails.

Any advice appreciated!
