Total gym/home gym

I have been looking into getting home gym equipment. I did some research on the total gym, has anyone used it or ones like it? What are your thoughts? I live in a little town so the gym here is always packed when it is open so I would like to do most of my exercise at home with out having a spotter needed.

You don't need a spotter. Just make sure that your setup has safety bars and you will be fine. I think it is pretty easy to get an idea of whether or not failure is likely.

I lift at home alone and have only ever asked my husband to spot me one time. He happened to be in the basement while I was down there working out so I thought what the heck, I'll try upping my OHP to see how it goes. If he hadn't been there, I just would have skipped doing that since it wasn't a required part of my program.

I have a bowflex and a variety if Dumbbells and a barbell. I ordered Body Beast DVD to get myself going. works well for me.

I had a total gym once. I used it a bit but got bored of it quickly.

I have a used power cage, only bar, free weights & bench. I have a small room at home to workout in. It gets used 5x week, more than I ever went to the gym. I can do different programs and have added band work & some dumbbells. I can do cardio in the space in front of the power cage. Best money I ever spent!

My cage has safeties and I've never needed a spotter.

Did you notice it working on your strength? I am in physical therapy for my back and wanted something lower impact for now. There is one for sale in our home town for 50.00 and I was going to get it depending on reviews.
