Just want to get some thoughts and insight from individuals who are/have carb cycling? What type of schedule do you follow? Do you cut out cardio and just stick to weight lifting? What ratio do you set up macros? Ect.

My diet is low Carb and I like the higher Fat/ protein foods so it works great for me in the long run. All excessive calories will store for future energy whether its Fat carb or protein so keep that in mind.

I have just started to add 200-300 grams of Carbs back into my diet two days a week but it won't last long the gas sucks!! in reality the purpose was more calories to keep me from muscle depletion.

I would love to here some other thoughts on this as well..

Well I am currently doing no more than 70 to 80 carbs Monday through Friday. My protein intake is around .5 to 1 per pound of LBM. Saturday is the "re-feed" day/meal, but that meal being well over 300 carbs and calorie surplus, obviously for the deficit created during the week. Sunday starts back to the low carb cycle. I am still lifting but not doing any cardio. I consume around 50 grams of carbs from sources like whole grains/berries in the mornings. The rest of the carbs are from green leafy veggies. After a few weeks of this, I will add in another re-feed day, or I will up the daily carb intake some, keeping it to one "re-feed" day. I try to cycle my heaviest day of weight lifting (legs) on the re-feed day. Just curious as to what other cycles individuals follow as well.

That's pretty similar to my CKD cycles, though I stay sub-20 for most of the week, then eat around 3-4g carbs per pound LBM in a refeed window on Saturday nights. Comes out to be about 420-560g for me. Because I am genuinely not a fan of most high-carb foods, I tend to do the whole refeed with redskin potatoes, sweet potatoes, and plain bagels.

I'm currently running a more balanced intake after coming off of a harsh cut though. Hormonal stabilization trumps tastebuds in my world, unfortunately.

Currently doing something that would probably be considered carb cycling. 4 days of protein (minimal fats/carbs), 2 days with medium carbs (200g) and 1 refeed day where I hit 1000g carbs.

Thanks for your input. I usually do my high carb/re-feed day with pizza! :)

@trigden1991-- Yep, I would say that you are following a plan that is considered carb-cycling. And the re-feed day of 1000g of carbs is fabulous! Thanks for the input!

I tried that too. Unfortunately, even with the thickest crust pizza and least amount of cheese and meats without it being just bread, the fat density was so high that I'd end up either coming in way low on carbs and protein, or way over on calories. A couple of orders of breadsticks ended up working better, but just felt bleh compared to the potatoes and bagels for some reason. Sushi was another favorite, but man, at $70 per refeed, I was out of that boat quick.

Hopefully the pizza keeps working fine for you though, because it's definitely a good time.

I agree! I do switch it up some, using pasta's and potatoes and homemade bread (my fav). I do stay away from sugary stuff though, as it makes me feel nauseous. The pizza and pasta's and breads just put me in a carb coma!
