Knee joint

Options
So finally made an effort and got back into the gym. During my leg press routine last friday I think I let my legs come up to close to my chest and at one point I felt as though the muscle in my knee "rolled" over the joint. Did not pay any attention and continued with lunges, squats etc..but by the weekend my right knee really started hurting. Yesterday decided to still go to the gym and do upper body and abs but even sitting down and getting up hurts my knee. Then to top it off as I walk I can hear a "click". When stretched out not so bad but to bend it is very sore. What should I do? How can I work my lower body (esp butt and legs) with a sore knee :( Any advice from you fitness gurus would help. Thanks...

I would say first get it checked out by a doctor, you don't want to do anymore damage by continuing to work through the pain. I have dealt with knee pain for over a year and a half. The first doctor I went to suspected meniscus and recommended an MRI. I forgo the MRI until this past month. Turns out I have arthritis in my left knee. The specialist I saw told me to limit my running and lower body lifting. I do straight leg dead lifts, donkey kicks with weights, hip thrusts, and weighted kick backs. Those exercises don't seem to bother my knee. I also limited my running and try to use the elliptical or spin bike for cardio. I am not a medical expert and what works for me might not work for you....get it checked out!

You can't. You injured it. Now it has to heal. Once it gets better you'll be able to work out with it again. If you have a knee brace or something to put pressure on it like wraps, I would suggest that to speed up healing.
