How'd you hurt your knee?0

Yeah, for me it was my back. I am walking. I know it's not the same, but it's more sustainable for the long term.0

You will want to avoid any activity that aggravates, stresses, over uses, or generally inflames the knee. Swimming if you have access to a pool would be good, maybe an elliptical as that eliminates impact. I don't have a whole lot of ideas, but there ya go.0

Walking is a good start.0

Knees will heal just like anything else if you treat them properly. If you hurt it and have not gone to a doctor then it may not heal properly. I folded my right knee sideways (in an L shape) about 12 years ago. Had to have the cartilage repaired on both sides. Took almost a year to heal, and I'll admit the first month or two after the surgery wasn't fun at all, but It's now my strongest knee. My left knee, which has never been injured has a worse problem with arthritis than the right one. Go figure.0

Follow your orthopedist and physical therapist's advice. Put another way - see a doctor.0

Just throwing a bit of solidarity your way. I've been to several orthopedic specialists and they are impressed with how damaged my knee is but it's not a surgical fix. Swimming, low impact exercises and calisthenics like planks are good. Get cleared by a doc for exercise and work the muscles around the joint especially the hamstrings!0

Took me a year to heal my left knee after injuring it. Was so painful. It's still messed up, so I can't run anymore.
I basically took up speedwalking instead and it healed over time.0 -
I'm always recommending landing towards the front of your foot when running to have the calves absorb more impact, because all that stress on the knees will eventually catch up to you.1
