Advice needed from physiotherapist/personal trainer please

Options
I want to go back to the gym however I have had one hip replaced and the other has early onset osteo-arthritis and bursitis. Please can anyone advise as to what equipment I could use and/or how I should workout to not hurt myself.
I used to spend a lot of time in the gym before my hip went. I have tried to go back on a couple of occasions but it has hurt - not in a good way. Now I'm scared.
Any advise would be gratefully received. Thank you :)

I can only advise that you make an appointment with an physiotherapist or a trainer who specialises in physical therapy work. This is far too important to get anonymous advice on the internet about.

agreed, find someone who specialises in hip replacements if possible, your doctor may be able to refer you?

your GP may not even be qualified. I'd go back to my surgeon that did the hip replacement. Those are bad about popping out if you do the wrong movements - results in a repeat surgery. They are pretty strict about certain motions.

Its been 2 years since the replacement. I wonder if I should still be worried about it. Its the other hip that causes the most pain. I don't want to mess this one up too soon.

yes, I think so. My mom and grandmother have both had them. They were told that they should avoid certain movements forever.

see whoever it was who informed you about the early osteo in the other hip. and ask them for a referral to someone who can help you with the exercise part.

medical specializations are different in different countries, i think. but i know that around here the person who diagnoses something and makes a plan for surgery/whatever isn't necessarily the person who can tell you how to live with what you already have. it's like the difference between the mechanic who fixes your car and the instructor who can teach you new driving techniques so you don't cause the problem in the first place.
