If you put in to lose 2 lbs per week then mfp gives you a 1000 calorie per day deficit. If it is giving you 1730 then that means that you need 2730 per day to maintain your current weight. You may not realize that you are currently rating that much, but if you have been maintaining your current weight for a while then you are. Trust the math and don't try to make your deficit any larger than necessary.1

To answer those questions we'll need your stats. Meaning:
Age:
Height:
Weight: 255lbs
How did you decide that you are lightly active?
For comparison:
I'm 35
170cm (I don't do feet)
Started at 104kg here on MFP
I walk around 8k steps a day and do weight training 2-3 times a week.
I lose weight if I eat 1700-1900 calories a day depending on my daily activity.0 -
Yes, I agree with kgirlhart. It would be counter productive to make your deficit any greater. Yes, it's possible to lose that much in that amount of time, even with drops and plateaus. Just stick with it !0
