Weight loss for my health (Lupus/Hypothyroidism)

I have recently been diagnosed with Lupus and I refuse to take the meds. The doctor told me I could maintain my symptoms with diet and exercise but I would like to hear from someone in the same boat. On top of that I have been fighting hypothyroidism since I was 19, and this makes it so hard to lose weight.
