I too struggle with PCOS. I've struggled with weight all my life and was morbidly obese until about 8 years ago. Currently, I'm at the high end of normal BMI and could lose few more pounds but will be happy to just maintain current weight. I feel that could be a struggle itself. Anyone struggling with PCOS and weight loss, please feel free to add me. I am happy to share my experiences and support you in creating your own journey.

Okay, so bad news - with PCOS, there's no way you're going to lose 5 stone in 5 months. Your metabolism is not going to let that happen. But you can still lose weight, even if it's slower than you'd hope. The bet thing you can do is reduce your carb intake and increase fats and protein and green vegetables. Google 'LCHF' diets, that's the kind of thing you want to go for. I have PCOS and have recently adopted a ketogenic diet, which is controversial to some but it has helped my PCOS symptoms, especially the insulin resistance. Carbs are the devil - some people might be able to have them in their diet and still lose weight, but if you've got PCOS it's not likely.
Higher testosterone levels can actually work in our favour though, as it can help build muscle quicker, so if you start working out make sure you are lifting weights. They will 100% NOT bulk you up, you will build lean muscle which will help your body burn more fat during the day, it's a win-win!
Start every day with a big glass of water and a positive mental attitude that you can do this, and don't stress yourself out to have lost a certain amount of weight by a certain date - this will only lead to you trying crash diets which do more harm than good. If you start with habits that you can change for the longterm, you won't even need to lose that much weight before people start noticing the overall change in you. You can do this!2 -
MFP has a great PCOS group you should check out: community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/3070-p-c-o-sis
As mentioned above, us pcos-ers tend to have better luck with a LCHF woe. I enjoy keto myself, and am seeing great results. It's not impossible to lose weight with PCOS but it definitely poses a challenge. The key is finding what works for you and sticking with it. Best of luck!0 -
5 stones in 5 months is excessive even for someone without PCOS. You should aim for a couple pounds a month. 5 stones will take you a couple of years.0
