Bruising from Dumbbells?

Hi all,

I've recently started a strength training program, I just completed week two yesterday. I noticed earlier this week that my palms (specifically the padding under my thumbs) are a little swollen and there's some mild bruising. I'm wondering if anyone here has ever experienced this, and if so, did it go away on its own, or did you have to do anything to overcome it? I’m thinking I might need to get some gloves for lifting, but I wanted to get some other opinions first.

Thanks for your help!!

I get bruising on the backs of my wrists from where the kettle bell hits me.

Your hands will acclimatize and it will stop happening as long as you keep working it. It has happened to me before, mostly on the first segment of my fingers from deadlifts. Your hands have to adapt to the new stress that you are applying to them.

Gloves won't help with this as it's caused by the pressure of the weight. Gloves can only protect the skin from forming a callus.

    Thanks peeps!

It's not too painful, so it doesn't bother me, I was just curious to see if it would go away on its own.
