How do you know what the best percentages are for your macros? I need to lose 50 pounds

It's whatever works best for you. Sort out your calories first, so you're in a deficit, and then you can play around with macros

Go to iifym.com and plug in your info and goals. It's free. I personally went to avatarnutrition.com and it sets my macros for me. Every Saturday morning I weigh in, and dependent upon my progress it adjusts my calories and macros. It's pretty affordable too, like $10 a month. I've had awesome success with it. Feel like I'm losing fat and not just "scale weight" because I'm getting plenty of protein and lifting heavy which is making ALL the difference this time around!!

Sort = Brit for "figure out"
Don't try to make it too difficult in the beginning. Start with counting calories, then you can adjust macros if needed for more protein, etc. personally, I've lost 87 lbs without considering macros at all, just staying within my calories.

    Good luck!

I agree, keep it simple. The default macros that MFP give are fine unless you have some special dietary needs.

Layne Norton is legit. I cant bring myself to pay the $10 a month yet but if i would his stuff would be the first place i turn.

Op there is not best macro. But general guidelijes are .8 to 1g of pro per lb of lbm, .35 to .6g of fat per lb of lbm, and the rest carbs. And 20+ g of fiber.
