I dread local lake effect. We've had a small storm go out over the coast, turn around and come back and bury us lol. I guess it isn't all bad, it just makes my life a bit more interesting.

Thankfully I just take highways to work so I don't have to worry too much when there is bad weather. This is my first winter living upstate ( went to college in VT so not a newbie when it comes to snow) I'm curious how bad it can get up here :#

I miss snow. Had a spate of snowy days for 2 weeks (as in it fell and didn't melt) in SoCal in January 2015... Sighs!

    Ahhhhh ... SNOW!

I spent a year in VT. I think the cold got to me worse than the snow. We were in the middle of nowhere....which was most of VT 40 years ago lol.

@Awolturtle @Grey_1 Spent 3 years in Plattsburgh, NY/Burlington, VT area (PAFB). Snow was heavy but the cold was bitter! Below 0 the entire month of February one year. Do not miss that.

A friend of mine yelled at me in VT, early spring. All I remember (long time ago) was going outside in a T-shirt, no jacket, because it was a warm, beautiful morning.

Turns out it was only 15f or so - it just felt warm because of the -20f temps (and lower wind chills) we had been dealing with. I don't want to do that again lol.

It still wan't as bad as Marquette, MI though. Brutal.

Bitter, bitter cold today in Arizona.

This morning, I actually has to put on a pair of socks; the misery is real.

I know right..here in Phoenix i almost didn't leave the house with shorts on....i did mind you but for a moment had to think about it and consider long pants. Well i also had to fish my pool thermometer out of the skimmer basket

Northerner here from the snowy lands.

    I don't get you defectors.

A lungful of crisp cold energizing air that puts a pep in the step. And the incredible beauty of ice coated branches glistening in the moonlight during an evening walk through pristine white manna from heaven. The hush and peace of the neighborhood after a foot has fallen and everyone is out walking and friendly. Helpful people digging out neighbors and complete strangers and graciously brushing snow off their cars. Dogs playing in the park running and jumping around like joyous maniacs through a freshly fallen fluffy freeze fest.

The 4 SEASONS. Even Vivaldi celebrated it in song. And the 4 seasons in Italy, as beautiful as they are, don't hold a candle to the exquisiteness of ours in the American North.

You'd trade in all this for 365 days of premature facial aging, sun ray corneal damage, squinting, cacti, rattlesnakes, grid cities with two hour traffic jams and air conditioner dependence? All to avoid shoveling?

Just kidding. Kind of. To each their own though. I don't mind. More snow for me.

    We are kindred spirits. :)

Woke up to a very light dusting this morning and more on the radar. According to the Farmers Almanac we're in for a bit of a rougher winter this year. Oh well.....it is what it is.

Guess you've never been to the Alps or Dolomites in Northern Italy?
