Hi I am 62 not very active due to arthritis I am on1200 Calories per day is this enough, I recently purchased a Fitbit which is really helping me get motivated to move my backside.
As you get older your appetite does decrease some days I struggle to use all my 1200 Cals other days I go over.
What do other people think about age and Calories x

Calorie intake is more directly related to height, weight and activity levels
The reason that age is a contributory factor is because of the assumption that as we age we lose muscle
If you follow a decent progressive resistance programme this isn't necessarily so, you will also find that a properly designed weights programme can help support you in managing your arthritis as of course would being at an acceptable weight range.
If you don't you can assume a drop of about 100 calories per decade in your TDEE due to muscle loss2 -

So we are very similar fireflyring. I have been on 1200 -1300 calories/day since April 1st. I have not found that my appetite has really decreased with age...but our one difference is perhaps our activity level. I alternate days of one hour treadmill runs/weight training - with days of yoga. Yoga may also assist with managing arthritis... and increasing activity level....1 -

It's much harder to lose weight when you get older I'm 69, I have tried various things but it is very much for the individual needs really, your Fitbit should help you work out where your calorie needs are. Feel free to add me if you offer mutaluak support . Good luck anyway the one thing we all need is support.0 -
I'm 63 and also suffering from osteoarthritis in my legs and hips - I joined the YMCA in September and am taking aqua classes 3 times a week - I find that the 45 minute classes are a great workout and very easy on the joints - maybe something to consider ☺ we have to find what works best for our needs and our age - just keep moving ☺1
