How many calories must you burn to lose 1 pound? OR how long must you workout to lose one pound?

I have read that 1 pound of fat = 3500 calories. Not sure it's possible to have a 3500 calorie deficit in 1 day. I struggle with burning 3500 in 1 week, through exercise anyway.

You must create a deficit of 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. This does NOT mean that you have to burn 3500 calories through exercise alone. Use a combination of diet and exercise to create a daily caloric deficit. However, you don't want to large a daily deficit or it becomes counter-productive. You have to fuel your body!

Remember, you're always burning calories, just by living.
