I've heard that there are foods that can boost your metabolism. Obviously anything containting caffeine has that effect but do any of you know of any other foods that can boost your metabolism?

Thanks in advance

I've heard hot spices like chili pepper and lemon juice. I assume they're working. I'm doing several things that are supposed to make you lose weight, and it's certainly coming off!

Lemon juice, really? So do you just add it to water and drink it?

What else are you doing? ... Congrats on your weight loss so far :D

I tried cinnamon. It made me hungry. Then I found out it can lower your blood sugar (which is a good thing) but it also increases your appetite. So I stopped using it.

Yes, I LOVE lemon juice in my water. I drank a lot of water before, but it seems like I do even better with it and enjoy it more with the lemon. I'm also doing South Beach, lots of exercise, and trying to keep my sodium under 2,000mg a day. I keep my fiber high. I eat lots of herbs and spices in my food, including chili pepper and Chipotle. I eat tons of veggies, raw and cooked. I do supplement, but I try to keep a lot of my nutrients, especially calcium, coming from actual food. I exercise a LOT. I've had some recent craziness in my life, so it's been harder, but I expect to settle back into my routine after this weekend.

Thanks! :flowerforyou: I'm pretty sure the ticker is fairly inaccurate by now. I weigh tomorrow for the first time in about 5 weeks. I know I've dropped about a pant size. We'll see how it goes!!!

Oh, ouch! Is it really bad if you're hypoglycemic??? I love cinnamon! :frown: Was thinking of picking some up.

I think it would take ALOT of cinnamon to cause severe enough hypoglycemia to cause adverse outcomes such as seizures, etc......but I already have low blood sugar and whenever it goes lower I get super hungry so I avoid things that have this effect. Maybe I took too much......but in normal amounts added to flavor food I doubt it would have the same effect.
