For lunch, I had a bowl of watermelon chunks and for the first time in my life...I felt "led" to eat the watermelon seeds. Now I've been eating watermelon for many, many, MANY years and have ALWAYS spit the seeds out. Today I didn't and after I ate them I looked them up to see if they were good for me (Duh...I know:ohwell: ) Anyway, turns out...they are fabulously healthy for you--but calorie dense like nuts.
Here's a link, in case anyone wants to know more....

Anyhoo...that got me to thinking/wondering if anyone else besides me has ever eaten or regularly eats watermelon seeds? If so, have you noticed anything wonderful (or otherwise) about doing so?

I do not eat watermellon seeds. Be sure that you check your seeds out before eating too many of them - eating apple seeds for example can lead to major illness and death if eaten in large enough quantities over long enough time.0

Not trying to grow a watermelon inside my stomach. A gold star for anybody who gets this reference...0

I thought I was growing a watermelon from eating seeds and then I gave birth to a baby boy. Happened again, but second time was a girl. Not sure which seeds make girls and which ones make boys. I once read something about XX and XY, but they don't mark the watermelons this way at the store. Go figure. Maybe seedless is a good option at this point since I only have two hands and each one is holding a kid.0

Thank you so much for that tip! I didn't eat a ton of them, as I just had a bowl of the chunks, but then again...you know how many of those little seeds can be in an old school watermelon though. The link I posted about them says that it's best to eat them in moderation...because of the fat content. They tasted a lot like Pomegranate seeds kinda.0 -
Hard to find watermelon at the grocery store that even have seeds.0

I googled it to see what it meant...and still didn't find out. BUT--that gold star reference brought such a smile to me, as it made me think of by-gone era when I was a wee little girl and used to love to get gold stars on my papers:happy:0 -
