Days when your body doesn't want to run :(

Beautiful morning this morning. Nice temperature, crisp air, wonderful sunrise. I was really looking forward to this run - until I started, and my body made it very clear it didn't want to. Tried running through the aches, which usually loosens everything up, but everything got tighter. Had a little walk, felt really good, started running again, no.
Eventually packed it in and walked the 3k to the bus stop. Bah- I hate it when that happens.

I can't say i have experienced anything like this, but that's okay if it happened. Try again tomorrow.0

I've had this happen. The bad runs make you realize how awesome the good runs are. For me, when this happens, the next time I go out is awesome. I hope your next run is ache free. :flowerforyou:0

Yep, some days it just isn't happening, it's just a bad run. But on the flip side, it's amazing when you go out an have an unexpected awesome run!

I've had this happen too. It sucks. But it also makes me appreciate the good runs all the more. Tomorrow is another day.0

For me it's more often my head that doesn't want to run, not my body!2

^^ Same here but there are runs that just suck. The good part is that as you run more the sucky runs become less frequent and they do make you appreciate the perfect ones more.0 -
Oh yeah. That happened to me the other day. After mile 1 my aches didn't go away. At mile 2 they were unbearable and I had to stop. Took the next 4 days off to make sure I healed properly. Listen to your body when this happens. It knows what it is talking about.1

Get a bike, so you don't waste days like that inside.1 -
I've got a bike, usually I cycle in to work, but I'm in marathon training, so need to run in twice a week to keep my miles up. The walk was lovely, and it felt really good. It was just anything faster than a walk that my hips started protesting and my tummy started churning.
Oh well, I have been bad at factoring in rest days this week, and I'm suspicious I'm not eating properly (my body is craving sugar and salt like nothing on earth, which tells me I'm not getting enough calories of good stuff in!). A lovely yoga class tomorrow, long run on Sunday and then happy days

You have to have the Bad days occasionally to know when you're having a really good day!1

How long until your marathon? You may want to be running more like 4 or 5 times per week, are you following a training plan?0 -

You're probably using glycogen like nobody's business, which would explain the sugar cravings. Give in to some of them.0 -
Someone said, 25% of your workouts will be awesome, 25% will suck, and the rest will be ok. That pretty much holds true for me regardless of the activity, so I just have to push through or adapt and do what I can, reminding myself that this is one of the bottom 25%. Just make sure you have a good warmup routine and do it every time.2

Yep I'm running 4 times a week - 2x runs to work, 1x speed session and a long run. The speed session is sometimes replaced by cycling.0 -
Unless you're training for something specific, I wouldn't sweat this. You basically burn the same amount of calories running or walking. Sometimes your body may be trying to tell you something, such as you are over-training, you are fighting off an illness, or something.0

Yep. So I had to run to work this morning to collect my bike for Monday morning. A wonderful 12.5K, pretty much effortless (not counting taking 10 minutes to do the 1k trying to get past the Houses of Parliament/London Eye! So crowded) Followed up with a 13k bike ride home. Loved it, really, really good run and ride!
So yep, sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. But the road is long (26.2 miles!)
