Congrats but how many hip thrusts in a row can you do at this wt? If it's just 1 or a few reps, is this the proper objective?
FWIW, Bret Contreras ("The Glute Guy") recommends doing sets of 12-15 reps w/the max wt that will allow you to do that in order to achieve the most benefit in your glutes from the exercise.

Did it ever occur to you that different people have different goals? And would therefore do different things to achieve said goals?
A powerlifter and a body builder both lift weights but with different objectives and methods. Divers, speed swimmers, water polo players, triathletes, and synchronized swimmers all swim in the water, but all of them will train differently for their OWN goals.
They had an accomplishment, met a big goal, you say one positive word the follow up with paragraphs on what the OP could have done better.8 -
I was able to do 200 lbs 3 sets of 8, 7, 7
Then I lower the weight to 135 lbs and do a set of 10 with a 3 second ISO hold at the top for each one and 10 s ISO hold last rep.
If you see my progress pics of my glutes, you'll see how much I have managed to build in 5 months. It's quite impressive considering I had no upper glutes in the beginning.
Bret also discusses doing a pump of 25 reps using two 25 lb plates at the end of the set also. In addition, Bret discusses a goal of being able to do 1 set of 10 at your max weight to reach the goal entirely. I am now working on being able to do 10 reps using 200 lbs. I want to get there before Christmas.

That's awesome! Would you mind posting the progress pics? Are you following Strong Curves?0

I'm following a "Strong Curves" type program yes. A PT made it for me.
My progress pics are in my profile. You can see the first picture taken in the spring of 2016, 2nd taken August 2016 and the last taken October 2016.
I am a little "fat" right now, so I will post once I've done my cut after xmas. It's a little embarrassing to post a pic of myself right now haha.0
