Weight gain while sick?

I woke up sick a few days ago with what I'm assuming is just a head cold with minor vertigo. And I've gained 3-4 lbs in that time frame although I haven't eaten more than normal. Last time I was sick I wasnt watching my weight so is this normal?
I've also been pushing tons of fluids as well but still seem dehydrated, is it okay to add Gatorade (which I never drink otherwise) or pedialyte?

Water weight from your body holding water to help fight whatever infection it is battling. Once you get better you will find the weight comes off fairly easily.1

I weigh myself daily with a good scale and often vary 2-3 pounds day to day. I'm sure it is due to different amounts of water and food waste in my system and I imagine you are experiencing the same thing, especially if you have been moving less and drinking more than usual. You probably aren't dehydrated if you are drinking so much, but unless you are sweating a whole lot or otherwise losing electrolytes, more water should do the same thing as Gatorade or Pedialyte without the calories.1
