Gimpy Injun Seeking Fitness

I'm 54 years old, I'm of American Indian descent, specifically Blackfoot and I'm married to an Italian woman.
I make custom leather holsters, knife sheaths, wet molded pouches and whatever else pops into my head. My wife and I enjoy hiking, backpacking, mountain biking or just floating along the local river relaxing and drinking a cold beer.
In May of 2011 I was diagnosed with Multifocal motor neuropathy, it's a degenerative peripheral motor nerve condition. I had the prescribed treatments but they didn't help. My Neurologist offered to help me get an electric scooty chair. My reply was, "(expletive deleted) that!"
There's nothing modern science can do to help so I decided to help myself.
Due to an greatly decreased activity level my weight ballooned. It took a few years but I restructured my diet, relearned to walk using the muscles that still work and lost the extra weight.
All with the help of my amazingly supportive wife.
Now my goal's to be the healthiest, fittest, gimpy Injun I can be.

Great post!
To quote Andy Dufresne - "it comes down to a simple choice really. Get busy living or get busy dying."
As a cancer survivor, I chose to get busy living and doing whatever it takes to stay as fit as my body will allow. Sounds like you are doing the same!0
