Hello! I'm coming over here from MyPlate because my aunt said she preferred MFP. I'm wondering if this app, like MyPlate, automatically calculates your allotted calories with a deficit? Like if I reached my calorie goal every day and did not exercise (just hypothetical - i do exercise), would I still have a deficit and lose weight?

Yes.
If you go through the guided setup and tell MFP that you want to lose one pound per week (that's a 500 calorie daily deficit), the calorie goal that you are given already includes that 500 calorie deficit.
There is a minimum calorie amount. If you choose a goal that would put you below the minimum then your goal includes just enough deficit to put you at the minimum.0
