question about workout legnth

Hi!! So, I have always been horribly inactive. Lazy, I'll say it for you, lazy! Anyhow, I am truly trying to not only lose weight through diet but trying to add in exercise where I can as well. Here is my issue.... I am a stay at home mom of both a 1 year old who thinks I am so awesome he has to be under foot 98% percent of the time and a 13 year old with microcephaly who requires my attention. Going to the gym is not an option. The road I live on is dangerous and although I can sometimes go for a walk it is very rare because I don't want to chance pushing a stroller and having someone drive into my son. I've tried exercising in my living room but it is a matter of minutes before my son is trying to join in and stepping on him becomes a real threat.
If I can do aerobic exercise for a total of 30 or 45 minutes a day,even if it is split up into 5-8 minutes at a time, can I log it as a total of 45 minutes and is it going to do me any good? I've lost 25 lbs without any exercise but I really want to do this right. Or, at least as right as I can right now.

You can burn calories in short spurts of a few minutes at a time, and those will add up over the course of a day. But you'll miss out on some of the other benefits that go with exercise like improved endurance, and the good mood that comes from a long walk outdoors.
Do you have to walk on the road? Maybe there's a path or you could walk on dirt. They make baby backpacks. If not, you can use lights on the road. If you want to. You can also lose weight with no exercise at all.2 -

The road has no shoulder at all. It's straight to the ditch if a car comes if for some reason I can't got to the other lane. Unfortunately, even though it is a back road, it is a busy road as well. So the possibility of both lanes having a car is possible.0
