Lab results Good News! Pre-diabetes and cholesterol: Good news!

So I had a physical this summer and it was the second year my labs were not what I wanted. I was obese and in the pre-diabetic range, although my number had gone down slightly from the year before. My mom has diabetes. Some of my cholesterol numbers were inexplicably through the roof. Or at least I was surprised as a longtime vegetarian and vegan for two years. My doc said it was intertwined with the elevated blood sugars.
Anyway I decided to get serious in August. I kicked all simple carbs (pasta & bread & all chippy things & all added sugar). I added in a ton of fresh fruit and raw veggie salads and the rest I eat vegan (stir frys with tofu, lots of bean-based soups and stews, other stuff I find filling). Snacks are almost exclusively whole fruit. I have hovered around 1200 cals/day. I instituted a walking plan at the same time I changed up my diet, walking 45-50 minutes most days (probably 6 days a week, with a few exceptions). I have lost weight and the thing I am super psyched about its my LABS!
Here it is before and after
BEFORE (July 25, 2016):
A1C (3-month blood sugar average): 5.9 (pre-diabetic)
Fasting blood glucose: 120 (high)
Cholesterol (total): 166 (normal)
Cholesterol: Triglycerides: 340 (Very high)
Cholesterol- HDL/Good: 29 (low)
Cholesterol- VLDL: 68 (high)
Cholesterol- LDL: 69 (normal)
Vitamin "D": 24.1 (low)
AFTER (November 17, 2016):
A1C (3-month blood sugar average): 5.6 (normal)
Fasting blood glucose: 86 (normal)
Cholesterol (total): 139 (still normal; lowered)
Cholesterol: Triglycerides: 130 (normal)
Cholesterol- HDL/Good: 33 (still low, but a bit better)
Cholesterol- VLDL: 26 (normal)
Cholesterol- LDL: 80 (still normal)
Vitamin "D": 31 (normal)
Not sure why the vitamin "D" went up- maybe extra sunshine from the walking? Anyway I wanted to share this different victory. I want to continue to lower the A1C as right now I have just made it to the top of the normal range. I will take it though!!

NewGemini130, you are doing so much better than me! I have been diabetic now for about 5 years. I thought I was doing good when I got my A1C to 7.1, but unfortunately, my metformin stopped working with my body. Had to go to the hospital, where they checked my blood sugar. I was around 570. My A1C shot up to 11.4 So now I am on insulin, taking it twice a day. My A1C had dropped, to 9.4, but I still have a ways to go! Just have to get past this diabetic fatigue, and stuff. I am eating healthy, and running a lot. Everyone says I look like I am in great shape, but I don't feel like it. I get tired easily. I am grumpy a lot, I just have to keep going. Hearing about people like yourself though drives me, and makes me feel like I can do better. Actually I have to do better!2

@michaelorozco67- thanks and keep it up! I am hoping to avoid full blown diabetes- I know how much energy and attention it takes from seeing my mom. Hang in there- great on the running!0

My story is very similar to yours regarding the pre-diabetes. How much weight did you lose?0

I've lost over 40 pounds. I have about 25 more until I am in the healthy weight zone, maybe more after that, but one step at a time!2

This is a really amazing accomplishment. Its interesting and inspiring to see how much you turned things around in just a couple months. Congrats! I have relatives with pre-diabetes and I wish they had your attitude.
