Ok.. I am new to this whole protein powder thing. I am having trouble consuming all my calories so someone suggested to me making protein shakes. Are these meal replacements? Or in addition to my meals? Or after workouts? And when shopping for the right one, I dont know the difference between Soy, whey & casein proteins. Just someone clue me in please. =)

There are a few protein powder threads going on today where people are asking many of the same things.

Only you can answer if they are a replacement or an addition. Research has shown that protein shake timing isn't anything but broscience.

The difference between the three is protein source. One is from soy. The other two are from milk. Casein and Whey are two different types of isolated protein.
  • Ahhhh. ok. I tried searching but couldnt find any similar threads. So there is no benefit to any type, just a personal preference?
