Have you worked out how many calories you need to gain weight?

I would recommend you increase your calories over a few weeks to the higher level so as not to feel overwhelmed.

Make sure you eat plenty of calorie dense foods, there is a sticky post about somewhere with a list of calorie dense foods, I will see if I can find it.

Have you talked this over with a doctor first?

    Whats your weight gaining goal?

    What's your height?
We know your age and weight already.

Hey hon so I was in your shoes a few months ago. You'll need to calculate your BMR (the link is below) then add 250 calories to that and as you start gaining, add another 250. I also started lifting weights at the gym too and I'm 6 months I gained 20lbs. I still need about 10 to 15 more so I'm gonna keep increasing my valley intake and keep working out. So I hope that works out for you feel free to add me to keep in touch if you'd like.

Nope. You are confusing BMR with TDEE. BMR is a completely useless number to know as it does not account for exercise or activity calories. Why use a random calculator when MFP has one built in?

Yes. Bmr is what you burn if you're basically in a coma. To gain weight you need to eat above your tdee/maintenance. If you set your mfp goal to gain however much weight you want to gain per week it'll tell you how many calories you need daily. None of the calculators are completely accurate and I've found I've had to eat more than mfp says, but it's a start
