I'm 26 and pretty dang tough for a girl , well I was and recently started lifting again shoulder is tore and recently popped out of socket so gotta be careful , legs and butt are what I'm working on now , my calves are solid I mean thighs , my question is am I gonna get huge lifting heavy or just toned out ? I can leg press 270 about 50 times. Squats only about 100 maybe 50 times. However my arms are weak lifting maybe 40 lb bells and what not. I need lifting advice !

You are not going to get huge unless you are trying to get huge. Are you planning on eating at a surplus? That's how you get bigger. You can recomp at maintenance calories or eat at a deficit & lift to lose fat and retain muscle. I lifted heavy for 3 years, all at deficit or maintenance calories and I got smaller but more defined. I probably have a lot of muscle as a base due to 20 yrs of a physically demanding job.2

My biggest piece of advice would be to get on a solid beginner's training program. Here's a good thread to get you started: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you/p12

You will grow muscle by eating well and lifting hard, yeah. But women don't get _huge_ without serious drugs. It's not something that just happens with a solid, long-term healthy program.

I did the SL 5x5 program for a year before my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I got more definition and got smaller opposed to getting bigger.1

Yeah totally huge. A God among mortals. That's exactly why mean with over 200x the amount of testosterone as you all opt to taking steroids.
No, you won't get big. You won't tone either. Toning is loss of body fat. Which is from being in a deficit. Getting big is from being in a surplus and lifting progressively. Not by doing 100s of random repetitions. Try an actual program such as strong curves if you want to successfully strengthen/build your lower body5 -
If you have a history of shoulder injury, be sure that you are okay to start lifting and in that case I double recommend getting on a solid program. "My arms are weak lifting maybe 40 lb bells and what not" signals to me that you don't really know what you're doing, since it doesn't say anything about what specific exercise you are doing and there are plenty of exercises that even strong women would use less than 40 lb dumbbells for. Randomly picking a 40 lb dumbbell for an arm exercise is a repeat shoulder injury waiting to happen.3

Stick to the basics like bench press, incline, fly's, squats and lunges. Eat healthy, high protein foods and you'll gain more muscle mass. It takes time unless you use drugs or growth hormones. Good luck, keep a log of your lifts too.1

You're vagina will fall out-and you'll turn into a man.
Definitely DON"T lift heavy.10 -
You've gotten good advice about getting on a solid program and tracking what you're doing.
As part of getting on a good program -- I'd advise you to really work to learn the form of the lifts you want to do, especially with a history of shoulder injuries. Several exercises used to hurt my shoulders (especially bench and overhead press) until I learned that there is actually a lot of technique to almost any lift, and doing them right can make the difference between being injured and being healthy.0 -

Thanks to the ones that were actually helpful.1

Get your shoulder checked (professionally), get cleared, lift heavy. If you need reassurance, click here (not spam, I promise)0

technically- just to be clear- you're uterus will fall out. Your vagina can't fall out. I mean- if we are being anatomically correct.4

Sorry I don't really know what you were looking for- you came in with a great humble brag- then threw out some bragging numbers and asked a really pedantic question.
What EXACTLY were you looking for? Congratulations for how bad *kitten* you are?2 -

I can leg press more than her. Does that mean I win something?3 -

Yeah. I'm in, too!
To OP, get on a proven weight lifting program like Stronglifts 5X5, after getting clearance from the doctor reference your shoulder. Women cannot look like this...
by accident and without (probably) using steroids.
Even to look like this
takes serious hard work and seriously focused diet.
Push real weight, get real hawt. Have fun.2 -
OP, check out the "Halp, Heavy Lifting Made Me Supah Bulky!" Thread on the success board. Inspirational stuff.1

This! So much this! This is happening to me right now. I'm eating at a deficit, but getting stronger AND smaller! I don't even need cardio anymore...it's so amazing! I LOVE lifting heavy!
