I have doms from lifting heavy yesterday and today is meant to be a rest day

But my hamstrings ache. Is an hour one walking slow paced ok to do on rest days to loosten up sore muscles?

i would - instead of rest = doing nothing; think of rest as active recovery (low impact steady state days) - for me after a hard cardio/weight day - I might swim; or do yoga or go for a walk2

I agree with @deannalfisher. When my muscles are particularly sore I like to do a bit of activity the next day and walking is generally my #1 choice. Stretch afterwards, too.0

I have DOMS today too! Hamstrings and glutes are killing me. I was going to wait until Sunday to take a rest day, but opted for today instead. I'm going to stretch it out when I get home and probably do some band work plyos for cardio. Gotta keep those muscles moving, really helps them to feel better0 -
Already said, but "rest day" doesn't not mean "do nothing" day. It just means no heavy lifting. Yoga, walking, etc is fine and will likely help.1
