Anyone ever worked as a ranger or tech for the NPS, Forest Service, BLM, etc?

I'm looking at a career change and am interested in pursuing a career as a ranger. I've always wanted to be a national park ranger, but I realize that's aiming high and pretty hard to get a full-time permanent job with them, so I'd also be interested in forest tech or fire management with the forest service, working with the BLM or the Army Corps of Engineers. I've also considered trying to get sponsored for FLETC to be an LEO with one of these services or with Natural Resources police. Is anyone here a current or former ranger (LEO, interpretive, or otherwise)or forestry tech who'd be willing to share their story?

Background: I'm 31, business and liberal arts degree, current federal employee with the DoD.
