I'm wondering why I wake up intensely hungry about 2-4 in the morning, I eat 1600-1700 calories, is there something I'm doing wrong?

You may need to save some calories to eat before bed.

Yeah, just timing of your meals probably. How about a bedtime milky drink?

Because of my working hours I normally have dinner and then about an hour later I'm in bed could try a milky drink

This has never happened to me until very recently, ironically (or maybe not) when I switched to maintenance. I wake up at 3:30 to pee and feel like I'm starving, even after having a good, balanced dinner at 7:30. Typically the easiest option to grab and take to bed is usually an ice cream treat of some sort. Need to stop.

How big a deficit is this for you?

Not sure maintenance range seems to be 2100-2400 according to calculation

I keep biscuits by the bed! Just something like rich tea biscuits- not especially "healthy "or good for your teeth though.

This happens to me sometimes, and doesn't always have to do with how many calories I ate. I think it's just excess stomach acid, because when I ignore it, I feel fine when I get up at normal time. Sometimes a tums helps ease that feeling in the middle of the night. I never get up for a snack though.

If your metabolism increased, sometimes that can end up with you not being able to make it through the entire night comfortably without eating something.

I used to just have an easy snack by the bedside table, to eat when I woke up to pee - added it in to my daily calories, and just having that snack during the night was enough to prevent too huge of a blood sugar level drop overnight.
