Anyone use MapMyRun?

I hit the track for the first time today to test myself for an upcoming pt test. I ran the track 6 times. Supposed to be 1.5 miles right? MapMyRun had it as 1.68 miles. Should I go by the track or the GPS?

    Go by the track. MMR (as with any GPS that's figuring your location based on cell-towers) can be off by a bit. I relied on MMR during my last half, and according to it I ran 14.5 miles rather than the 13.1 the race course had been officially measured at. Are you training for a race or just running for fun?

    I'm testing for police departments. I've just recently gotten into running. I actually kind of enjoy it.

    gps works better on straight runs too. I have noticed that time and time again.

    I use MapmyRun, it's fairly accurate if the gps behaves, but when I have used it on a 10k race, it once said I'd done 6.5 miles, whereas my Garmin said 10k, so it can be a little out. I wouldn't trust it 100%, so go by the track.

    :p goofed in my reply. Isn't 10K close to 6.5 miles give or take a couple 10ths of a mile? I find it to be pretty close especially if you have paced a walk/run on a measured distance such as a track.

    MMR is the most accurate tracker I've used to date. My complaint about it is that it is a huge battery sucker! On a measured track, I'd go by the track, though.

    Were you in the inside lane for the entire 6 laps? If your track is properly lined, you can see the stagger for each lane out from the inside.

    Yes, it is pretty close which is why I said it was fairly accurate, but can be a little out, as in it's not exact!

    I found the Mapmyrun app pretty inaccurate in general but that's mostly gps realated, I switched to Runkeeper and it seems better imo.
