UK people- brown sauce replacement

I guess this mainly for UK people as i dont think many other nations have brown sauce ( HP/Daddies). Its basically a smooth chutney.
Im looking for a replacement for use in recipes. I use it in my sausage casserole. Id like to replace it with somthing ( or ingredients) that are not sugary as im hypoglycaemic. I also dont do artificial sweeteners or stevia.
Im thinking vinegar, tomato puree, maybe grated apple? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Edited: Nevermind, I see it's molasses based.0

What happens if you just leave it out?
What's your recipe?0 -
Waitrose do something called plum molasses but that may be just as sugary. Or how about balsamic vinegar? Or something like an oxo cube? Or soy sauce?0

If it's in a casserole, rather than as a ketchup for sossies, I'd second Worcestershire sauce (Lea and Perrins is definitively the best, IMHO) or tamarind (which is a strong component of the taste of Brown Sauce). You need a lot less L&P to get a flavour than you do of brown sauce. Both have a degree of acidity, similar to HP.
Bisto Best Onion Gravy granules are also quite good for a savoury kick.0 -
Thanks guys. I have all those things so ill give them a go.
Recipie is just tinned tomatoes, brown sauce and sage with sliced mushrooms, peppers, onions and sausages.0 -
Possibilities
Add a tin of Heinz baked beans
Or
Add Worcestershire sauce and garlic
Or garlic, salt, thyme and black pepper

Hey there! Check store brands...I remember watching "Eat well for less" and they showed a store brand that had lower sugar than the original HP. Might be worth checking!
Apparently there's a HP one: https://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/tesco-price-comparison/Condiments/HP_Brown_Sauce_Reduced_Salt_And_Sugar_450g.html
And also Sainsbury's and Tesco's:
