How to use a food scale to log food.

This may seem like a dumb question, but how can I input what I weigh out.

I tried entering in something that was oz. I put in okay 10 0z. And it claimed 1440 calories and that can't be right.

So I am a bit confused on how I use it now that I have the scale finally.

Try using 1 instead of 10. If the item is listed for 10 oz, the nutrition info is correct for 10 oz. When you put in the 10, you basically said you ate 10 of that item.

What was the food item? Something like cheese or salad dressing could be that high.

I think Zyxts is right - if the entry has 10oz as one serving and OP then puts in she had 10 - MFP is recording the amount for 10 x 10 oz and giving the calorie count of 100 oz.

OP an you post a screen shot of the entry so we can verify the problem?

I will screen shot it when I have problems again. I weighed a sweet potato today and it calculated up to about 234 calories, sounded about right.

I doubt she ate ten ounces of salad dressing.

could have also been a bad food entry in the database (3000cal garlic anyone!)

If you search "usda, ITEM" you can usually come up with an accurate entry pretty easily.
