Hello,

I have been doing this for 2 days now. I am 5'1 and 145lbs. My goal is to lose 20 lbs. and the tracker gave me the goal of 1,200 calorie intake a day. I have noticed that I don't reach that and I end up coming short about 200 calories a day. Is this okay? I get full and I don't want to cram food down my throat just to reach the goal.

How accurate is your logging? What are you eating that you're absolutely stuffed not even getting to the minimum calories per day? It would be very hard to get adequate nutrition while under eating like you are (if your logging is correct). This may work for a while to eat so very little but likely won't be sustainable for long.

If you are "getting full" on 1,000 calories then you may need to tweak your menu. Feeling full isn't a good indicator of adequate nutrition.

Eating less than goal once in a while is no big deal. But eating less than goal most of the time is not healthy. Especially given that you are at the default minimum of 1200 calories (granted you are fairly petite). Most young women can eat more than 1200 & still lose.

Calorie dense foods - pack a lot of nutrition into small portions: nuts, nut butter, olive oil, avocado, full fat dairy. How are your protein and fat goals? Are you meeting those?

can you open up your diary? you may notionally only be eating 1000cal, but it depends on the accuracy of logging

You're only two days in. I've experienced similar early fullness at the beginning of a diet. Eventually my hunger catches up to me. If I fight it I end up experiencing a bit of binge/restraint. Plus I'm pissed because the scales go up when I start eating to goal. Getting into the habit of eating to goal each and every day has made life easier.

A lot of people do not consume sufficient good fats - olive oil, avocado, other good oils, nuts, etc...make sure you are meeting your quota.

There is a thread somewhere here about calorie dense foods and it includes a list of such foods. Calorie dense foods will help you reach your calorie allowance.

How did you get to the point of needing to lose 20 Lbs if you can't manage a measly 1200 calories?

I see this question asked so much...

Some folks quit drinking 800-1000 calories of soda a day.
Some folks change up their macros a bit and add a little more protein/fat/fiber and so they get full on less.
Some folks stop eating a ton of sweets and chips (I don't even know how many calories of potato chips I ate).

I also at first got pretty full and still had 100 or so calories left over. I was eating 1/2 protein bar in-between meals.

After a couple of months I found that I can eat 1250 no problem and even one day a week I eat at maintenance.

So it happens. Not sure if its the above or what but it really does happen at first at least:).

And a lot of people think dietary fat is bad and avoid it which I think is a huge part of the problem...

    IDK...that never happened to me.

It's typically unhealthy to eat 1,000 or less calories, but it sounds like if you are truly full, you may be mislogging somewhere. Are you weighing out your food? Measuring? Or guesstimating? Surprisingly, it makes a big difference.
