There. I did it. I gained 5 lbs. from not getting on the scale and weighing myself on a regular basis. So, it's back on the more severe, calorie restriction merry go round for me. I can do it. I've done it before.
What got me in trouble this time, was adding the occasional glass of wine, or Amaretto to my coffee per day. Those calories simply add up. I can't afford to have both dessert at dinner and the serving of alcohol. I have to choose everyday between the one or the other. That's within my capability.

Why does it need to be severe? You've only got 5lbs to lose so you only need a small calorie deficit.2

Meh 5lbs isnt bad, no need for severe though, just tighten up a few things and that gain will be history. Aim to lose 0.5lb a week.
Its good to have frequent weigh ins to keep accountable imo.1 -
It seems as if you're not weighing any of your food... You need to take care of that first. Ditch the idea that 'pieces, cups, spoons, 1/6th, half' are suitable ways to accurately count calories and use a digital food scale. No more generic entries.
And, no need to heavily restrict with calories. Yes, weight loss is ALL about calories, but definitely no need to go nuts.

Is the 5lb gain based on a single weigh in data point? Depending on TOM and sodium, that could be within normal fluctuations.1
