Apple Watch / Fitbit Question

Hi everyone! My friend and I are both trying to be good on our fitness journeys. I use a fitbit and he uses Apple Watch. For me, when I walk and do activity throughout the day, MFP adds calories in for me to eat (I am set at sedentary). For him (also set at sedentary), when he syncs, he just sees his steps from Apple Watch in MFP but no added calories. Does he need to turn on a feature or something to have the calories automatically increase due to activity like mine do? Any thoughts?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
