Seeking help for my weightloss journey!

Hi, my name is Katie. I have recently started a new journey to become a healthier me. This is my second time doing so and after my last failed attempt, I am starting all over.
When I first started I was a lot younger and motivated for all the wrong reasons. Needless to say I wasn't doing it for myself and I know that's where I went wrong. I did on the other hand lose 89 pounds. But after the death of my father and two years of depression I gained them all back.
This time around I am completely doing this for myself.
I do have many issues with this though, especially with time. I work from 7am-8pm Monday through Friday's and randomly over the weekends. Plus I'm in school. I have been on a diet which I haven't all grains, refined sugars, fried, fast food and no dairy. I do allow myself too have cheese once a week, because cheese is bomb. Even when I do have it it's vegan or reduced fat.
As for exercise. I try to go three times a week at least. I'm also a preschool teacher. I run laps with my kids almost everyday.
So far, I have lost 12 pounds in three weeks.
Does anyone have any tips to manage my time better so I can go to the gym more?
Is three days a week good enough?
I'm rarely home before 9 is eating that late and going to the gym after an issue or can I keep doing that?

Why did you cut out so many foods? That doesn't sound sustainable at all.1

Wish you the best. I also have recently embarked on a new weight loss journey. Probably the thing that helps me the most is preparing my own meals. It's not just about being able to control what's in them, (although that is important) but also because it is another step to get you mentally invested in the process. By taking the time to make my own meals, it's helps reaffirm what I'm trying to do.0

Food is just food. It is often counter productive to attach some sort of morals to something which is just fuel for the body and in the context of a broad and well rounded diet is a non-issue. If you have impulse control issues with some things it can be helpful to cut those out, at least initially but from a health point of view totally unnecessary and can lead to bingeing due to over-restriction.
You need to be in this for the long haul, are you seriously never going to eat grains ever again? Never eat fries? Ever? Never grab a McDs, even if it's once in a blue moon? I eat all of those things and still lose weight. I also eat lots of nutrient dense foods too. It all just has to be within my calories.
You have a lot going on, you have to be very careful not to set yourself up for burnout by going too hard with everything.3 -
I personally wouldn't cut out so many foods so quickly. I would ease up on them and then slowly cut them out of your diet. I still ate fast food during my journey but I made different choices on what I would order, and paid very close attention to the ingredients and calories. About 6 months into successfully losing, I stopped eating fast food altogether and ate more at home.
Anyway it doesn't matter what time you eat as long as you are eating in deficiency, getting those workouts in and being consistent. Best of luck!1 -

Great job retrying! I applaud your choices in restrictions, my only concern is that you may feel deprived and inevitably "splurge" on the "wrong" stuff. I too have tried & failed over the years. I went Paleo/Primal back at the beginning of May - best choice I've ever made. I don't deprive myself, I find ways to fulfill the craving. I'm currently down 55 lbs and went from a size 20 to a 12 before Thanksgiving. Also I am no longer on all the pills I used to be & no longer diabetic. Please don't get me wrong, it's not easy, the 1st couple of months were rough. Nor am I out to "convert" the world, but you have already made steps in this direction, so if you need a shoulder/sounding board/cheerleader, let me know! I'm always available for questions, recipe ideas, etc.
Cooking your own foods is really key - when you put all those great things together and it tastes fantastic; you know you're doing the right thing. I cooked Paleo for 75% of Thanksgiving this year (including desserts), everyone loved it & there wasn't any leftovers of my dishes.
You can do this, whatever "diet" you choose.1 -

I cut out those food for the fact that literally all was eating hoagies. Bread and cheese sandwiches. Etc etc. Like bread everyday. The foods that I love and really hated letting go I do allow myself to eat once in a while. As for fast food. I really don't each much anyway maybe like once every two months or so.
And cheese I would load on to everything which is why I went from everyday and on everything too once a week.0 -
