Hello all,

I am stuck here and I am sure there are some of you out there that have been in my spot. I am just getting into the MyFitnessPal system and I am wondering if I need to increase my calorie intake since I will be working out.

Just to give some details:

I currently weight 270.
I will be starting the Insanity program with this setup and I know you can burn a good amount of calories.
My normal net intake per day is 1, 940 calories.

Would it produce a negative result if I do not increase my daily calorie intake amount even though I am going heavy on the exercise part?

Thank you for your comments :)

Follow the insanity food guide for calories, at least. Insanity is intense, and you need to fuel your body for those workout. I'm 190 lbs, I eat 2000 calories as a base, and I usually eat another 700 to 1000 for Insanity burns (and I still get a little hungry between meals). I've lost 4" off my waist so far, and I still have 2.5 weeks to go, so you don't need to avoid eating to see the results of the program. If you undereat that drastically, you risk hurting yourself. You'll still lose weight if you don't eat them back, but you risk burning a lot more lean body mass than fat, which is not what you're after. A small deficit is better for ensuring that you burn fat.

If you're using MFP you'll be increasing your calorie goal on your workout days anyway. The regular number increases when you log your exercise.
