I did it!!! I REALLY DID IT!!!

11 months ago today I was 100 pounds heavier. I bought a digital scale a year previous and never used it... finally I stepped on it January 8 earlier this year and I had a number in mind... well it was 20 pounds heavier than I thought. I was at the point of accepting I am a large girl and that is just how it is...(I gave up). Then I was not able to get out of bed without two walking sticks or canes... getting off the couch was a workout in itself. So through baby steps... I tried MyFitnessPal before and logging all the buddy burgers at A&W still did not make me lose weight.
I set up my goals...and I was realistic knowing starvation was not the way to go. I had an elliptical staring me in the face for 2 years, if I made 4 minutes on it I texted all my friends bragging about it... Years ago I had a trainor and was in excellent shape... my lifestyle changed and so did my body and health. I had the tools, now I needed to use them.
Now I capped off the elliptical at 35 minutes per day, eating well and most important FEELING GREAT!
I REALLY DID IT <
shouting from the rooftops!
(oh, I guess I really lost 300 in total, it cost me a relationship - my boyfriend didn't like my lifestyle change *shrugs* who needs that sabatoge?!)
2 years ago I stopped smoking... on my way to good health again!

Congrats to a great decision!
I've got to tell you about my friend who had lap band (weight loss) surgery four weeks ago. She had lost 20 lbs. before surgery, another 22 lbs. since then. About 50 more to go.....The dietary restrictions are unbelievable. She has to eat 19 g protein a day, absolutely no starches, no veggies right now. Forget about fruit... Of course she looks thinner, but also pale and weak. She was happy to have no complications from the surgery.... What we are doing here is so much more enjoyable. Baby steps, ok?6 -
Thank you! Thank you everyone! I usually am a private person, but I just couldn't help myself in realizing how far I came and wanted to shout out to all. Being overweight made me fall into a depression, and feeling I just existed... now I am full of life and excitement again. Loving ME, took up yoga too. Enjoying the things I always wanted to do. Tomorrow night is our Christmas party and it's been a long time but I am excited to go out again!
I have read many of the blogs here, and at the time of being heavy, it is encouraging, yet such a huge uphill battle... but slow and steady wins the race. I tried to average 2 pounds per week weight loss... and when I hit up the buffets and inhaled every creme brulee in sight... I did not feel one bit of guilt...just got back on track the next day!
Another plus here is the recipes... I make my own ...well everything! The protein bars are handy in my purse when the overwhelming hunger hits...I reach for one of them (beauty is I can pronounce every ingredient). My purse is a healthy vending machine of sorts! *wink*
Good luck to all in maintaining (that is my next challenge)

Congratulations, that is wonderful. I also had an epiphany in January. I was 378 Lbs and I've lost 150 so far and have 113 left to go. I feel so much better and I am so happy that I started this journey. You are proof that this is possible. Great journey!

i love the part about bragging to friends. my own amiable, friendly friends are probably the reason why i ride bikes and lift weights. because every time i stepped out of my zone there's always been someone i could email two seconds later and brag about how jock i was.0
