A Journey of a Thousand Miles

edited November 2024 in Introduce Yourself
Hello, I just thought I would introduce myself. At the start of my journey, I weighed close to around 450lbs, but didn't have a scale capable of measuring my mass, so that is a guesstimate. My friend has some connections at the local gym, and got me a meeting with a personal trainer, and with her guidance, I have gone from around 450 to 395. I have quite a ways to go before I reach my goal weight of 218 to 230. I am very tall and carry my weight very well, that is my excuse for letting it get as bad as it did.

I figure, the more friends that I have, who can hold me accountable, the more likely I am to try to achieve my goals. Friend me if you want to follow along, you won't find rejection here.

Congrats on dropping that first 55! That's a huge accomplishment. I think you'll find that religiously tracking your calorie intake with MFP will be really helpful as you try to reach your goal weight.

Indeed, that is what I have been trying to get in the habit of doing. I will admit that I dropped the ball over Thanksgiving, but hopefully, I can take those lessons, and carry them on to Christmas. We will see, walking to work each day has been a real eye opener, as I feel like if I am putting that much work into walking to work, it would suck to blow my diet. This week it has worked great, and I hope the trend continues.

    Thanks for following along.

Accountability does really work ...have recently done a six-week drop a dress size course at my local gym and one of the requirements was to check in with a buddy from the course if possible ..made quite a few of us much keener to keep at it if we knew somebody else was checking too :)

You've done great so far to lose the 55lbs, that's an amazing achievement!

Except I have to duck through some doors, and most chandeliers. At 6'6", sometimes it can be a burden.

On another note, I am your go to guy if you need to reach something high up.

Because I am short, tall people fascinate me! I'm weird!

It's not weird. You should see the looks I get when my 3 yr old niece comes for a visit. Her look of awe, always makes me smile. I wonder if she ever gets a neck ache, looking up at me.
