Under and over targets on Fitbit

I'm confused about the food calorie count for Fitbit. Does it matter if I'm under, over or right on my target for eating? Will it hurt my weight loss if I'm under or in the yellow or red?

For weight loss fitbit recommends you stay "in the zone/green area." For me, if I'm not in the zone I try to stay under or yellow zone. Try to stay out of the red zone.0
