You can do this, one day at a time, loog all food drink and excercise and enlist mutually supportive friends. Good luck

Thank you for that! Do you make friends on here, as in requesting to make friends? If so how do I go about it? Thanks a lot.

You can do this! I'll be 50 in a couple weeks and I've lost 151 Lbs so far. I still have 112 to go. If I can do this, anyone can!

I'm 55 and have started running again for the first time in 20 odd years. Lost 20kg so far. Can't say it's been easy but it's been really rewarding and I now feel happier and healthier than I have done for a long time.

Happy to become friends and give mutual support and encouragement.

Hey Gypsy! I am 59 years old (no one is more surprised than me at that..) and I "started" in August -- I put in the quotes because come on -- I've been dieting for 30 years, yet never seemed to get it done! I started at 152 (my highest weight was 195 back in my 20's, so I did lose around 50 lbs. (on weight watchers) and managed to keep those off for those 30 years!) but I always wanted to be thinner and never got there, until I rejoined MFP in August and really committed to it -- and made it a priority! If not now, when? So, I eat between 1000 and 1200 everyday -- stay with the greens, veggies and fruits and proteins (I eat chicken, turkey, fish ---mostly salmon and mahi mahi burgers -- and lots of organic eggs!) and I have a glass of wine EVERYNIGHT! I love this way of eating -- I walk/jog everyday with my husband and dog (husky/collie -- this dog runs!) for around an hour and I do yoga --I try to work in a power yoga class every week -- but mostly I just do yoga stretches at home. Living in New Zealand sounds so great!! I'm in the U.S. -- my husband and I both work at colleges in Western New York and we have a son in college outside NYC. We spend 2 weeks for Christmas in Southern Cal. (my husband's family lives in California) and it feels pretty great to go this year (we leave tomorrow!) and feel this great! Here are the stats:

    Height: 5'3"
    SW (August) 152
CW (this morning!) 129 (feels soooo good!!)
GW --was 122, but maybe I'll aim for 118 now!

I've lost around 1 lb. a week -- this works! Friend me and you can see my diary - I try to log in everyday...

Good luck! I KNOW this works!!

And Tinamarie -- GREAT WORK! Keep going!

I'm over 50 and started back in late-September. I've lost 16 lbs (goal was only about 12 lbs) and took up Couch to 5K (jogging) for the first time in my life!!
