How often do you re-calculate your daily caloric goals?

I'm trying to determine how often I should re-calculate to continue a weight loss. Every 10lbs? Every 10% loss?
Does anyone know what is recommended? If not, what worked for you.
Thanks in advance!

Not sure iv been on 1200 which is the lowest so i never had to worry about it, But i heard someone say every 5 pounds? Maybe every 10 if you have more to lose.0

Yeah - every 5-10 lb, as a general rule.0

I wouldn't calculate, I would use your current intake and rate of weight loss to determine how to adjust your current intake.
Actual logging data > calculators1 -

True.
Perhaps I should have said I wouldn't use a TDEE equation to estimate, which is what most people mean when they say they are recalculating.0 -
I kept my settings to lose 1 lb a week until I lost most of the weight (80 lbs give or take a few). I'm in maintenance now, but it's TOO easy to regain. So now I set myself to lose .5 a week Monday to Friday, and to Maintain Saturday and Sunday. It seems to be working!4

So - don't recalculate (use a TDEE equation)? Just let your weekly weight loss be your guide? Then, adjust (not recalculate) your current intake?
Got it. I think.
Is the 5-10lbs, 10% a myth?1 -

I don't know if it's a myth, per se...but I don't think it's necessary. I think it's just another method of doing the same thing, and making someone feel they are re-tooling as they go.2 -

no, that's not what he said.
Use your own recorded data to make adjustments. All the calculators are estimates based on some swath of other peoples' data.
YOUR data is the best indicator of YOUR needs.2 -
I have actually been on the same calories for the past 2 years. I did recently have mfp tell me what my calories should be and it was the first time it went below 1800. I am still losing weight steadily with my current calorie goal so I am going to leave it until it no longer works for me.2

^ this.
And your results will dictate when things need to change, and they will at least vaguely point to how much.1 -

I re-calculate on MFP every week now right after weigh-in. I didn't realize it wasn't an automatic process until about three weeks in, oops!0

Every 5 pounds lost, 10 if you must, but your calorie goals will go down as you lose. If you don't adjust you'll stall out eventually.0

I adjusted daily, until I hit my goal weight. At the beginning of the year, my daily "budget" was about 2,725calories, and when I hit my goal last week, it was down to 2,140 per day. So, on average, I reduced my daily calorie target by 1.7 calories/day (~12 calories per day, each week). That way, I never had to make a huge cut (like 100+ calories)--it was all very gradual. It did mean recalculating every day using a formula in a spreadsheet, and weighing and portioning food carefully. But, I did lose 77 pounds since New Year's Day, so I'm happy.0

I don't adjust my calorie intake, I just let my rate of loss get slower and slower.
I didn't like having to tweak what I was eating in order to keep shaving off calories so that I kept losing at the same rate. I experimented to find a satisfying daily calorie goal that's below maintenance for my goal weight.1
