I am brand new to Fitness Pal so bare with me. With the exercise section - if you wear a fitbit is there a need to record your exercise daily seeing the Fitbit will sync steps ?? I have stupidly been recording my morning & afternoon walks as exercise. So starting fresh today only recording Fitbit results. IS that right ?? Thanks

If you are syncing Fitbit to MFP then you don't log exercise here unless its something none step related - cycling/swimming etc. Fitbit will give you an exercise adjustment here.

Question for you guys. Im ont New to MFP but New to my fitbit charge. I have added it as app but so when I record my workouts it shows up in my Fitbit app when synced but it doesn't show up on MFP. Are you saying it won't? I recorded my exercise on MFP and it makes a double entry on my Fitbit app. So I'm confused...lol

It won't record them as individual workouts, there should be just one entry for anything FitBit related.

I only enter my exercise on the Fitbit site. It will eventually sync it to MFP. For example, I used to do water aerobics where I didn't wear my Fitbit. I entered the calories I burned from that workout on the Fitbit exercise log page at the bottom and it will add those calories to MFP. It does take a little time for it to sync though.

I log food on MFP and let the Fitbit device autolog calorie burn to the Fitbit app. I don't yet do any significant non-step based exercises but in the future when I start to put more emphasis on muscle retention I will log them manually.

You may know this but you can put the Fitbit in Exercise Mode whenever you go for a walk, then it will recognize what you did and (I think) create an entry automatically. On the Charge HR that was done by holding the button until it vibrated and showed a clock then a stopwatch. Finish by holding the button until you see a checkered flag.
