OT Water temperature...

Don't know where else to ask this. Usually I use Y!Answers, but the site is down.

I woke up this morning to find that the sinks in our condo will not run cold. This is a new problem and it's affecting both the kitchen and the bathroom sink. I thought it could be something with the pipes until I realized it's affecting both sinks and that just doesn't seem likely.

It's been nearly 100 degrees here all week, but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it...or does it?

Should I be concerned?

Does it cool off if you let it run for a bit? Here in AZ, I have noticed that during the height of summer the cold water starts out noticeably warmer, but does cool off after eventually.

I let it run for a couple of minutes and it was still warm. :frown:

Yes, it can make a difference. We pulled water out of the city supply last night (it's been over 100 for the last few days here) for a concrete pour, and the water was measured at 84 degrees. Typically, keeping the pipes underground is enough to cool the water, so no additional cooling is provided due to expense. In abnormally hot periods, this may not be sufficient. Take it from a civil engineer; let the temperature cool down outside before you start worrying. Most likely, it will correct itself.
