Last Saturday (one week ago) I went to crossfit and did the wod. Part of it was multiple sets of crunches. I have a pretty strong core so this felt pretty easy for me and I didn't feel any unusual pain and in fact thought it was a pretty easy gym day. The next day, however, I woke up with insanely sore abs. I went to yoga that night to try to loosen up but it didn't really help. I stayed really sore all the way until Wednesday and in fact I'm still kind of sore. Normally I'm only sore for a day or two! Now, it's a different type of pain. I don't feel it constantly but only if I arch my back and bend back in some way. Going into cobra pose BURNS, and this is normally a stretch that feels really good. Right now I'm laying on an excercise ball, trying to stretch out, and it hurts so much. What gives? I've never been this sore for a week. What should I do?
(I already posted this in a different category but didn't get replies in over 8 hours so reposting here!)

Have you considered that you pulled a muscle? Sounds like you may need some full recovery time..

At this point you should get a doctor to check you out. Muscle soreness for 1-2 days that is that severe and not getting better is a big red flag.

I would stop trying to stretch it out. Abs aren't muscles you can stop using (learned the hard way with a pulled muscle), so just don't aggravate them. Otherwise go to a doctor.
